Yes, you need an API key. However, if you selected the Basic Plan, you won’t be charged unless you exceed the free quota (5k requests / month). You can see your current stats in the Applications section (in the header bar, next to your profile).

You can easily mock your API calls while you are developing your site, there is no point to perform real requests. I do provide a free quota to get started, that should be more than enough to cache some responses for testing on your site.

Hey, believe me. I am still trying to develop the site on my localhost, and i cannot even get the videos to display. I am still on planning stage. Please give test calls to allow me to build up my site. I will definately upgrade later.

I hope that you can understand that this is not an option for me. I can’t distinguish if API calls are coming from a production or development server. And in either way, your calls will generate costs on my backend that need to be covered.
