What is Crime API
A Crime API is an application programming interface that allows for access to crime and related information of a specific city, state, or country. The APIs are designed for easy integration into web and mobile applications, creating a communication channel between the search queries, the databases, and the user. Therefore, it allows the users to access computed statistics, records, and analytical information regarding a specific Geolocation.
The Crime APIs have the ability to integrate information from various locations and map them on the longitudes and latitudes specified in the search criteria. Once the search query is fully executed, the API returns the responses in JSON format, allowing other applications to access and read the results.
The results of these searches may include information such as crime statistics, background check information, sex offenders’ details and provides facial recognition. Some of the APIs also return information on cyber-attacks, dark web data, crime maps, and the prediction of any fraudulent behavior.
Users of the Crime API
Developers – These APIs are used by the application developers who embed them into various applications to help the users search for crime-related information.
Law enforcement – Crime application programming interfaces such as the UK Police Open Data API help law enforcement to get crime data and policing information to help keep the locations safe.
