Real words not showing up

I am working on a program that tests real words versus fake words and the API keeps detecting real words as not found landing real words into a ‘fake’ pile. Here is an example:

https://wordsapiv1.p.rapidapi.com/words/besting/definitions

The word ‘besting’ is a real word, yet the result shows up as:

"message":“word not found”
}

What gives?

It is in the dictionary. It’s the “gerund or past participle of best”. They can’t include every suffice (“ed”, “ing”, “ly”, “tion”, “ing”, …) or the dictionary would be nearly infinite.
