Cash parked domains are:

• Domains contain little or no content and are “holding pages” similar to “Under Construction” or standard domain empty messages (e.g. Domain registered at GoDaddy etc).
• Monetize traffic by various techniques including; on page pay per click advertising, domain purchase options (brokerage), redirects to other monetized sites (sometimes malware, phishing, support scams etc)

The Email Hippo Cash Parked Domain API is currently the only API available that is able to accurately identify cash parked domains from known providers.

If you are an on-line consumer or business, you need to be aware of the risks of accidentally navigating a browser to a cash parked domain. Such risks include (but not limited to):

• Malware
• Phishing (e.g. asking for your live.com username and password, social security number etc) and identity theft
• Redirect to support scams (i.e. call a “support number” to talk to a representative who will remote onto your computer and charge hundreds of dollars to fix non-existent problems)
• Redirect to adult sites
• Redirect to sites that install useless browser “toolbars” or other spyware

• Risk management (e.g. your new customer on-boarding process may wish to exclude new customers registering from cash parked domains)
• Detect and avoid fraud and identity theft from cash parked domains
• Detect and avoid malware from cash parked domains

Features and Benefits

Currently, this is the only API that can accurately determine whether a domain is cash parked.

If you have previously experienced problems via unknown cash parked domains such as malware, support scams, browser hijacking or other anti-social scams delivered via cash parking arbitrage, then this API will allow you to get advance warning that your potential or existing customer is using questionable cash parked domains to engage with the people that you care about (e.g. your other customers, staff or suppliers).

In testing, we were successful in identifying many domains that Google Safe Browsing and Microsoft SmartScreen were unable to detect and therefore block.
