This API is highly reliable and has low latency. If you get a response time-out, or the latency is higher than one second, chances are that you’re requesting a whatsapp number that is not following the guidelines in terms of format.

This video shows how to validate if a phone number exists on whatsapp, using the endpoints included on the paid plans. If you want to test the API, use the free endpoints group.

The API has the following endpoints:

• Validate WA number: will check if the number is registered on whatsapp.
• Is a business?: will return true if the account is a Whatsapp for Business Account, and false if it’s a regular personal account.
• About info: will return the value of the About field, if the user has set one.

The API only requires a single parameter on each request: the phone number that you want to check. Please make sure you’re entering a number, and read the comments below to understand how to format it.

If you want to avoid errors and/or high latency, please remember the following:

The whatsapp number must be written as countrycode and number; do NOT include any non-number character, spaces, or anything which is not a number.

Examples: of correct numbers are: 34123456789 (for spain) or 491234567890 (for Germany).

TIPS:
Do NOT include ‘+’ before your countrycode,
Do NOT include a ‘-’, or any other character or space (anything which is not a number) as part of your phone number.
Do NOT include a 00 before the number (some countries use 00 for International dial out).
Do NOT include any extension after the number.
