Search Nearby - query required why?

Can I ask you why in the Search Nearby API the param “query” is required?
In the same Google API the “keyword” param is not required, it’s optional.

Thanks

Hi there,

Thanks for your message.

The Search Nearby endpoint implements a Google Maps functionality that requires a query (e.g. grocery store) to filter the result set for the user. You can see how it looks on https://maps.google.com (on Desktop), right click somewhere on the map and select “Search nearby”. I hope it clarifies things. Feel free if you have any questions 😃

Thank you,
