Important: Our Realty Mole API is now deprecated. While we don’t have immediate plans to shut down this API, we will not be releasing any additional features or updates for it going forward.

We recommend migrating to our new and improved RentCast API and using it for all new projects and integrations. View our new API docs to get started, and our Realty Mole migration guide for steps on how to migrate existing integrations.

The Realty Mole real estate and property data API provides on-demand access to 140+ million property records, owner details, home value and rent estimates, comparable properties, active sale and rental listings, as well as aggregate real estate market data.

We have nationwide coverage for nearly all residential and commercial properties in the US, as well as rental market data coverage for nearly all US zip codes and cities.

Maintaining an accurate data set of property records is our top priority. We obtain our data from a variety of sources, including public records, recorded deeds, tax assessors and online listing websites, and process over 500 thousand updates on a daily basis.

We offer a free API plan that includes up to 50 free API calls per month, so you can test our API and develop your integration without costly upfront commitments or long-term contracts.

Here are just some examples of what you can do with our API:

  • Retrieve dozens of data points for a specific address, including structural attributes, property features, tax assessment history, and property tax amounts
  • Look up the names and contact information of current property owners, as well as the last sale information for each property
  • Get real-time property value and rent estimates (AVM) based on the unique characteristics of each property and nearby comparable listings
  • Retrieve sales or rental comparables for any property, including their attributes, listed prices or rents, and distance from the subject property
  • Search for property records or active sale and rental listings in a specific city, zip code or geographical area with many ways to filter the available data
  • Access historical rent trends, market averages, listing and composition statistics for any US zip code

Our support team is here 7 days a week to answer your questions and provide help with your integration. You can contact us by clicking the “Contact” button at the top right of this page, or by posting a new thread on the Discussions page of our API hub.

API Documentation

You can view specific API endpoint references and documentation by going to the Endpoints page of our API hub.

Below are some general considerations to keep in mind when working with our API.

Property Types

We use the following property types in our API, both for the propertyType query parameter, as well as any property type fields returned via our API as part of property or listing records:

  • Single Family (default): a detached, single-family property
  • Condo: a single unit in a condominium development or building, which is part of a homeowner’s association (HOA)
  • Townhouse: a single-family property that shares walls with other adjacent homes, and is typically part of a homeowner’s association (HOA)
  • Manufactured: a pre-fabricated or mobile home, typically constructed at a factory
  • Duplex-Triplex: a single unit/apartment within a residential multi-family building (2-4 units)
  • Apartment: a single unit/apartment within a commercial multi-family building or apartment complex (5+ units)
  • Land: a single parcel of vacant, undeveloped land

Valuation Estimates for Multi-Family Properties

When retrieving valuation estimates for multi-family properties (“Duplex-Triplex” or “Apartment” property types), it is important to understand the difference between how these properties are handled by the value and rent estimate endpoints.

The value estimate endpoint (/salePrice) will return a property value estimate for the entire multi-family or apartment building. When providing specific property attribute parameters in your requests (ex. bedrooms, bathrooms, squareFootage), you should provide total values for the entire building.

The rent estimate endpoint (/rentalPrice) will return a property rent estimate for a single unit, not the entire multi-family or apartment building. When providing specific property attribute parameters in your requests (ex. bedrooms, bathrooms, squareFootage), you should provide values for a single unit that you’d like to get a rent estimate for.

Distance Measurements

Please note, that all distance radius query parameters (ex. radius, maxRadius), as well as any distance measurements or fields returned via our API are measured in kilometers.
