Product Pricing

Hi. Great to see such a comprehensive database of recipes and ingredients. I’m looking forward to using this in my apps.

I do have one question at the moment which is regarding the origin of the pricing data. Is this US data? Where does it come from, and how often is it updated?

Thanks

Oh and prices for packaged foods (frozen pizza etc) are updated very frequently (on a daily basis).

Hi Lee,

Thanks for your question. Since we have generic ingredients such as “bananas”, the price data is an average of multiple brands. It is US-based and since it is an average (there are cheap and very expensive organic bananas), we do not update this price data. The prices should give you a good indication of how much a recipe costs. If you show it to users from states where you know that groceries are more expensive, you can use a multiplier.

Best,
David
