How to see funds that are not individual stocks.

I would like to fetch the price for funds like vanguard’s VTSAX. When I go to ‘liveData/liveStatistics’ and use VTSAX as the symbol requirement, it doesn’t return anything. Do I need to fetch an exchange first? For instance, EPFGX is listed on Yahoo Finance under nasdaq. When I ‘get companies by exchange’ and use NSE as the exchange code, I don’t see EPFGX in the response. Is there something I am doing doing wrong here?

Hi. Using that ticker VTSAX for the live data > metadata endpoint should return you content, please let me know if it doesn’t.

There are not “statistics” available for funds, compare:

https://finance.yahoo.com/quote/VTSAX?p=VTSAX&.tsrc=fin-srch

vs

https://finance.yahoo.com/quote/AAPL

(second link to a common stock, Apple, has Statistics tab, Funds do not have this content available on Yahoo).

The endpoints are designed with common stocks in mind, not Funds, so Funds wont appear in the “list all stocks” endpoints. However, as shown above, certain types of content, eg. the Metadata, are available using those same endpoints.

Hopefully this helps.
