TLDR: You can always access our free API without limits at https://blackbox.ipinfo.app/lookup/1.1.1.1

I am the owner / operator of the Blackbox API. When I initially took over this project, the original creator had taken over for another service that offered a free IP Proxy Lookup service. Which is how we got our name, Blackbox, and our initial V1 endpoint schema.

We migrated to RapidAPI for our V2 endpoints because we wanted this to be a paid feature. In doing so we wanted to still showcase our old older V1 API, but have it be free. The paid features would then help pay for the servers and infrastructure we needed to maintain the API.

The problem became that having the Free V1 API routing though RapidAPI provided us little benefits, and no benefits for our clients. As such, we are placing a limit of 500,000 requests per month on the V1 API that route through RapidAPI. This limit will however not be in place if you reach out to our API directly at the link provided above. This way RapidAPI doesn’t need to handle these requests, and incur processing fees on their end.
