Will the API check if a given domain name is available in any TLD?

Should the extension or the TLD like .com, .co etc be included in the domain name we give to the status method? Or can we enter a name and the API will check if this name is available in any of the TLDs.

The Status API method accepts a single, full domain name as the parameter.
