3D Transform is a file conversion utility. It will accept a 3D model from a variety of possible formats and then convert that file into the STL format used in 3D printing.

API keys can be obtained from: http://www.3dtransform.com/?q=node/7

The allowed extension types are: .igs .iges .stp .step .brep .3ds .ase .dxf .stla .stlb .stl .wrl .iv .obj .swv .gmod .iv

The maximum file size is 6mB.

The file information should be sent via POST.
A variable named “key” needs to be posted with the API key.
The file should be posted with the name “file”.

The XML results will be returned in the following format:

If the conversion was successful then the tag will return “success” and the tag will contain the URL of the new .STL file.

Otherwise the tag will return “failed” and the tag will contain details on why the file could not be converted (i.e. invalid API key, file was too large, file type was not allowed).
