I have observed that there are many cases wherein despite the ID is valid, it says invalid and vice versa. All the emails for custom domains are shown valid mostly. I am not too sure of the hit rate after using the service trials and paid usage plan so far. Why is it so?

It happens sometimes, because of the nature of this service. If the email server is not configured to respond properly (sometimes misconfigured due to error or intentionally for privacy reasons) then there is no way we could correctly identify the correctness of the email address.
