Search city by name

Question

Hi Guys, Am I missing something or there is no easy way to search a city just by name? In case that wouldn't be possible, How would be the easiest way to achieve that? Get the wikidata from each city looks a bit tedious to accomplish such an easy task. Thanks

Hi everyone,

When I try to search a city with namePrefix the endpoint search across region field and not in name or city field.

Please try namePrefix=São P and language=pt

Hi. The way to search by name is to use the namePrefix param. This will try to match the prefix you give on all words in the name (at the start of each word). http://geodb-cities-api.wirefreethought.com/docs/guides/getting-cities-for-name-prefix
